What You'll Need
- 1SP-1P assembly installed, 12V DC control power on, and mains supply available.
- 2HPzenAi gateway (GW-W1 Wi-Fi or GW-XR1 SIM/RF) available, whether integrated within the panel arrangement or installed externally, and connected to the HPzenAi platform.
- 3RS485 shielded twisted-pair cable pre-run from the SP-1P enclosure to the gateway.
- 4HPzenAi app installed on your phone and logged in to your project account.
- 5Modbus address of the built-in MX-1P module — factory default is Address 1.
RS485 Wiring to Gateway
The built-in MX-1P module inside the SP-1P assembly exposes RS485-A and RS485-B terminals on the side of the unit. These connect to the gateway RS485 port. The RS485 link is required whether the gateway is integrated into the overall panel setup or installed externally.
Image
- 1Route the RS485 shielded cable from the SP-1P enclosure to the gateway. Avoid routing next to mains cables inside the enclosure — use the low-voltage cable duct.
- 2At the SP-1P end: A core → RS485-A terminal; B core → RS485-B terminal. Connect shield drain to the enclosure earth bar.
- 3At the gateway end: A core → RS485-A; B core → RS485-B. Leave shield floating at gateway end.
- 4If this is the only or last device on the RS485 bus and the run exceeds 10 m, fit a 120 Ω termination resistor between RS485-A and RS485-B at the SP-1P assembly terminals.
- 5Multiple SP-1P units or other HPzenAi RS485 devices can share the same bus — assign unique Modbus addresses to each before scanning.
RS485 Scan & Device Detection
- 1Open the HPzenAi app and tap the gateway tile to open gateway settings.
- 2Tap RS485 → Scan Devices.
- 3The SP-1P built-in module appears as 'Motor Controller — SP-1P' with its Modbus address.
- 4If not detected: check 12V DC LED on the SP-1P assembly, check RS485 A/B polarity (swap if not detected), and check cable continuity.
- 5Confirm the Modbus address on the SP-1P module — the address selector is inside the MX-1P module accessible from the front panel of the SP-1P assembly.

Verifying the Connection
- 1Confirm the starter tile shows Online in the app.
- 2Tap Manual Control → Start. The SP-1P contactor should click and the motor should run.
- 3Tap Stop and confirm the motor stops.
- 4If the tile shows Offline: power-cycle the 12V DC supply to the SP-1P (switch off and on) — the module reconnects automatically within 60 seconds.
- 5Runtime hours and event history appear in Device → Status after the first successful manual start.
