What You'll Need
- 1SP-3P-SD assembly installed, 12V DC control power on, and three-phase mains supply available.
- 2HPzenAi gateway (GW-W1 Wi-Fi or GW-XR1 SIM/RF) available, whether integrated within the panel arrangement or installed externally, and connected to the HPzenAi platform.
- 3RS485 shielded twisted-pair cable pre-run from the SP-3P-SD enclosure to the gateway.
- 4HPzenAi app installed on your phone and logged in to your project account.
- 5MX-3P-SD Modbus address — factory default is Address 1.
RS485 Wiring to Gateway
The built-in MX-3P-SD module exposes RS485-A and RS485-B terminals on the face of the SP-3P-SD assembly. The RS485 wiring process is the same as for other HPzenAi motor controller products, and the RS485 link is required whether the gateway is integrated into the panel arrangement or installed externally.
Image
- 1Route RS485 shielded cable from the SP-3P-SD enclosure to the gateway in a dedicated low-voltage cable duct.
- 2At SP-3P-SD end: A core → RS485-A terminal; B core → RS485-B. Shield drain → enclosure earth bar.
- 3At gateway end: A core → RS485-A; B core → RS485-B. Shield floating at gateway end.
- 4If the SP-3P-SD is the only or last device on the RS485 bus and the cable run exceeds 10 m, fit a 120 Ω termination resistor between RS485-A and RS485-B at the SP-3P-SD terminals.
- 5Assign unique Modbus addresses if multiple devices share the same RS485 bus — use the address selector inside the MX-3P-SD module cover.
RS485 Scan & Device Detection
- 1Open the HPzenAi app, tap the gateway tile, and open gateway settings.
- 2Tap RS485 → Scan Devices.
- 3The SP-3P-SD built-in module appears as 'Motor Controller — SP-3P-SD' with its Modbus address.
- 4If not detected: confirm the MX-3P-SD LED is lit (12V DC power on), check RS485 A/B polarity, and confirm no duplicate Modbus addresses on the bus.
- 5The scan result shows the current star-delta timer setting and phase status if phase sense wires are connected.

Add Star-Delta Starter to Your Project
In scan results, tap the detected SP-3P-SD device
Verifying the Connection
- 1Confirm the starter tile shows Online (green) in the app.
- 2Tap Manual Control → Start. Listen for the contactor sequence: main click → star click (star start) → [timer] → star release → delta click (delta run).
- 3Confirm the motor accelerates during the star phase and smoothly transitions to full speed in delta.
- 4In the app device detail view, confirm the sequence log shows: Main ON, Star ON → Star OFF, Delta ON.
- 5If the motor stays in star and does not transition: set the star-delta timer to a longer value (Device Settings → Motor → Star-Delta Timer) and retry.
- 6Runtime hours and sequence event log are available in Device → Status after the first successful start.
